Weekend Music Festival Must-Haves!

June 9, 2014 by Ashley Willis

Summer music festivals are one of most exciting summer activities and they bring together the best the season has to offer in one fun filled weekend: music, friends, food and great weather (most of the time)! For the festivals that have us celebrating amazing music for a long weekend, it’s important to be prepared for the hot weather, long days and standing on your feet. We are avid music festival travelers and this year will be at Bonnaroo. Here are our tips for surviving each day at the music festival so you can enjoy the tunes and good company!

Protect Your Skin

Stock up on sunscreen for your Face and body! The sweltering summer sun is strong, especially in a wide open field with nowhere to hide. It’s essential to protect your skin and prevent and discomfort of a nasty sunburn on your first day at the festival. We love Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Sunscreen ($7.99, Target)

Stay Clean

Dirt, dust, mud, sweat  – we’ve seen it all. You’ll want to keep face and hand wipes in your bag to clean up throughout the day. We like Wet-Nap Canisters and Individual towelettes ($1.97, Wal-Mart)

Keep Cool

A hat is always a great way to keep your eyes protected from the sun and shade your face. We fell in love with Wallroo’s Morgan Hat($52.00,wallaroohats.com)! The fedora-style hat has an internal drawstring and cotton lining for perfect comfort, and built in UPF50 for even more sun protection.

Grab Your Shades

Open fields during a bright and sunny day can be a strain on your eyes. Grab your shades before heading to the festival grounds each morning. We prefer Ray-Ban’s Original Wayfarer Classic ($155.00, ray-ban.com)

Be Prepared for Rain

While we can wish and hope the rain doesn’t interfere with our outdoor music festivities, there’ never a guarantee the clouds won’t show up. If they do, make sure you have quick shelter with a compact rain poncho in your backpack. Try Totes Unisex Rain Ponchos ($10.06, amazon.com)

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Any avid music festival go-er will tell you, you must stay hydrated to ensure you can last the entire day, night and even into the wee hours of the morning! You’ll be tempted to have that cold beer at high noon, but wait until the sun goes down. Rather than feeling exhausted and dehydrated by nighttime, you’ll feel better and ready to take on the evening events! We’re bringing Nalgene’s On the Fly OTF Bottle ($12.99, nalgene.com)

The Carry-All Backpack

In addition to the items mentioned above, you’ll need an adorable backpack to hold everything you need! The key is make sure it’s lightweight and compact, yet not bulky to avoid being a backpack nuisance in the crowds! We’re bringing TOMS Gray Strip Lucas Bag ($74.00, Toms.com)
