PHOTOS: DIY Chalkboard Menu
In preparation for our Oktoberfest Beer Garden Soiree, I wanted a chance for all our guests to display their offerings on a chalkboard. Any type of board I came across at a store was upwards of $40 and I didn’t want to buy anything that I could only use a few more times before it had to be stored away for the winter. Luckily, my parents are quite crafty themselves and are constantly picking up gems from flea markets. We have had some old picket fences lying around that would become the perfect start to my DIY Chalkboard. See how I create this super easy board out of picket fence piece, cardboard, chalkboard paint, staples and an art easel.
The board is sitting on an easel which makes for a perfect display menu! The chalk was easy to erase with a wet rag but I frequently give it another coat of the paint to keep it looking fresh. To date, this is my best DIY project, chalkboard under $10 bucks, BOOM!
Picket fence – free (found in a garbage pile)
Cardboard – $2 (made out of a deconstructed box)
Chalkboard Paint – $4.50 (Rustoleum)
Chalk – $2 (Crayola)
Like I said, my parents are very crafty themselves, and this is what they are doing with recycled fences! So cool, right?!
