Our Best DIY Bars!
No matter what theme of soiree we throw, we love the idea of a DIY bar where guests can help themselves to food and drinks as they please. It takes a lot of pressure off the hosts throughout the night and offers a fun way to get your guests interacting. And who doesn’t love a Make Your Own Pizza Night?! Over the past year, Ashley and I have gotten really creative when it comes to these DIY bars, everything from to brunch cocktails to main dinners and even dessert. Our friends approve too! See our top DIY Bars we’ve created!
Let’s be honest, pizza is everyone’s favorite food. Our friends still talk about this party and request it on the reg! We started with store bought pizza rounds and filled the counter with every topping imaginable. I covered the counter in brown paper and was able to personalize the party with our logo and step-by-step directions.
2. Garden Bar
We are trying to stay heathy as much as the next person, so on a beautiful day last spring we decided to throw a luncheon to catch up with friends. We wanted to have light fare since this was an early soiree. So we cut up fresh, crisp romaine and made our own salad mix. And left our guests to make any salad they wanted. Tons of veggies like cucumber, tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, onions, squash and more. And protein is important too so we offered grilled chicken and beans too, followed by every crunchy topping and dressing imaginable. We gave the Ruby Tuesday Salad Bar a run for their money!
We are all about hors d’oeuvres! Ashley’s favorite appetizer is bruschetta so this DIY Bar was all her idea. She attended an event in the spring where they offered a Bruschetta Bar and it got her wheels turning and then we made our own the same weekend. Ashley learned there isn’t only type of bruschetta to serve, the skies the limit when your base is a toasted baguette. Tabuli, Broccomole, Hummus, Classic Tomato Bruschetta, Goat Cheese, Brie Cheese, any type of cheese for that matter.
On to dessert! Fall is all about candy apples, but instead of making full ones that will make our teeth fall out. I created bite size candy apples, with chocolate and caramel dipping followed by sprinkles, nuts, coconut, chocolate. Yum! It is so fun to have a party with dessert as the main meal!
5. Taco Bar
This is a personal favorite! A good 50 percent of my diet is tacos, but no shame here. There are so many unique combinations they will never get old. My favorite is pork tacos so after making a big batch of meat, I loaded the bar with corn tortillas and all our favorite toppings, cheese, tomatoes, arugula, onion, lime, radish, salsa and every hot sauce ever!
-This is just the beginning of our DIY bars, we have our wheels turning and can’t wait to bring you make it yourself soirees!
