Laird’s Applejack Bartender Mix Off!

Red Bank’s Cocktail Week is in full swing with a jam packed schedule of fun tastings events to get you to the weekend! Last night was the Laird’s Applejack Bartender Mix Off, hosted at Taste, ¬†featuring local bartenders creative concoctions using Lairds Applejack Brandy. All guests were able to sample the hand-crafted cocktails and vote for their favorite. Prizes were awarded to People’s Choice and Over All Winner.¬†Each drink was delicious! I’m sure the judges had a difficult time choosing! Here are a few of our favorites from the evening!

Adam Billich from The Melting Pot

Serving it just like grandma did, Adam made a tasty Chilled Apple Pie Martini made with Laid’s Applejack and Dr. McGillicuddy’s Apple Pie. Paired with a cinnamon apple, sugar rim, this drink tasted so good, just like the dessert! With a smooth finish, we treated ourselves to second helpings of pie!

Mike Heter from The Melting Pot

I love a cocktail with fresh herbs in it and Mike was right on point making a Late Summer Sipper with sage and rosemary, Laird’s Apple Jack, Chambord Raspberry Liquer and fresh juices. Cocktails are taken to the next level when we enhance the natural flavors of the liquor rather than hide then behind sweet juice, the Late Summer Sipper was a winner in Amanda’s eyes!

Carmen Petrazulli from Teak

Just when you thought margaritas were only for the summer, Carmen made a drink that reminded us of fall. Made with equal parts Laird’s Apple Jack and Espolon Tequila, equal parts lemon/lime juice and freshly squeezed green apple juice, with a splash of agave served with a cinnamon sugar rim, this drink has us looking forward to the beauty of fall and all the flavors to look forward too. Definitely wins Ashley’s favorite!

Melissa Crowell from Red, Restaurant and Lounge

Soaking up all we have left of summer, Melissa served a light and refreshing Peach Julep using the Laird’s Apple Jack Brandy, mint leaves, peaches, apples and peach syrup. It was the perfect flavor combinations for the end of the season. All guests seemed to have enjoyed it too, Melissa took home the People’s Choice Award for her summery julep.

Katelyn Wisniewski from Taste

Making one of the most unusual cocktails of the evening, Katelyn made a Cherry Amore drink made with Fernet Branco, an italian liquor made of herbs and spices that is said to settle your stomach after a large meal or a night of drinking. Normally Fernet Branco has a harsh taste but Katelyn was able to pull out the cherry flavors using the Laird’s Apple Jack making this cocktail vey enjoyable. And to top it off, she added an egg white too, which gives the drink a smooth texture with a nice foamy top, yum! It is no wonder why Katelyn won the Bartender’s Mix Off!

What a fun night full of tasty drinks, great food and fun! DJ Atom Worth provided the evening with great tunes while Chris Paseka of Sugar Rush was the always entertaining MC.
