Homemade Pumpkin Spice Lattes
Did you know the average American will spend $1,100 on coffee per year? And that number doesn’t include when we become addicted to the amazing pumpkin syrup that enhances our morning cup of joe, making us buy a Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL) everyday, if not twice a day. (guilty!)
I have always been a fan of making my morning coffee at home. Whether I use a percolator, single cup maker, or a shake a tasty cold brew, I like the idea of saving a trip (and money!) to the lengthy coffee shop line. But with fall in the air, I crave the spiced goodness!
I experimented making my own pumpkin syrup and loved the turn out! This is something that can be made on a sunday and stored in the refrigerator for your morning coffee or latte week long! See how I recreated Starbucks coveted Pumpkin Syrup.
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup of water
- 2 tbsp. pumpkin puree
- 1 1/2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
In a small sauce pan combine water and brown sugar, heat on a medium heat until the sugar is dissolved. Add pumpkin and stir continuously until smooth. Add the pumpkin pie spice until dissolved. Store in a air-tight container and shake well before adding to your morning joe! Top with whipped cream for that added barista touch!
